Treat (band)
Treat is a Swedish hard rock band formed in 1981 in Stockholm. They achieved considerable success in Scandinavia and Japan during the 1980s before disbanding in 1993. The band reformed in 2005 and has been active since.
History:
Treat was formed by guitarist Anders Wikström and drummer Jamie Borger. After some early lineup changes, the band solidified with vocalist Robert Ernlund, bassist Joakim "Joe" Larsson, and keyboardist Patrick Appelgren. Their debut album, Scratch and Bite, was released in 1985 and gained them attention in Sweden.
Their breakthrough album, The Pleasure Principle, followed in 1986. The album featured the singles "Get You On The Run" and "World of Promises" which helped them achieve international recognition, particularly in Japan.
In 1989, Treat released Organized Crime, which saw the band experiment with a more melodic rock sound. Appelgren left the band after this album.
Treat's final studio album before their initial breakup was Treat, released in 1992. Following the departure of Ernlund and Larsson, the lineup featured Wikström, Borger, Mats Dahlberg on vocals, and Anders Öström on bass. The band disbanded in 1993.
In 2005, the classic lineup of Ernlund, Wikström, Borger, Larsson, and Appelgren reunited for the Sweden Rock Festival. This led to renewed interest in the band.
Treat released a new studio album, Coup de Grace, in 2010. They have since released several more albums, including Ghost of Graceland (2016), Tunguska (2018), and The Endgame (2022), continuing to tour and record.
