James Langstaff (bishop)
James Langstaff (born 1946) is a retired Anglican bishop in the Church of England. He served as the Bishop of Rochester from 2010 to 2021.
Langstaff was educated at The King's School, Canterbury and Selwyn College, Cambridge. He trained for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge. He was ordained deacon in 1970 and priest in 1971.
His early ministry was spent in the Diocese of London. He served as a curate in St Mary's Hornsey Rise and then as Vicar of Holy Trinity, Stroud Green. From 1988 to 2004, he was the Archdeacon of West Ham. Before becoming Bishop of Rochester, he served as the Bishop of Edmonton from 2004 to 2010.
As Bishop of Rochester, Langstaff sat in the House of Lords. He has been involved in various national church committees and working groups. He retired in March 2021.
