YoungArts
YoungArts, formally known as the National YoungArts Foundation, is a non-profit organization in the United States established in 1981. Its mission is to identify accomplished young artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts, and to support their creative and professional development.
YoungArts offers a multi-tiered platform of support throughout an artist's career. High school students ages 15-18 (or grades 10-12) are eligible to apply to the annual YoungArts competition. Applications are reviewed by panels of esteemed artists and leaders in their respective fields. Award winners, known as YoungArts awardees, receive monetary awards, mentorship, master classes, and performance and exhibition opportunities.
The organization is structured around ten artistic disciplines: cinematic arts, classical music, dance, design, jazz, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing.
YoungArts Week, held annually in Miami, Florida, is a core program where selected awardees participate in intensive workshops, seminars, and interdisciplinary collaborations. This provides a unique environment for artists to learn from master teachers and connect with their peers.
Beyond YoungArts Week, the organization provides ongoing support to alumni through grants, residencies, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities. Many YoungArts alumni have gone on to achieve significant success in their respective fields. The organization is supported by individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
