Hawkeye (1994 TV series)

Hawkeye is an action-adventure television series that aired in 1994 and 1995. A loose adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's novel The Last of the Mohicans, it starred Lee Horsley as Hawkeye (Natty Bumppo) and Rodney A. Grant as Chingachgook.

The series focused on Hawkeye's role as a scout and mediator between settlers and Native American tribes in the 18th-century wilderness of Upper New York State. He often found himself caught between the conflicting interests of the British colonial authorities, various Native American factions, and land-hungry settlers. Chingachgook served as Hawkeye's trusted companion and moral compass, providing wisdom and assistance in navigating the complex political landscape.

The show ran for one season consisting of 22 episodes. Although it employed a degree of historical fiction, it attempted to portray Native American culture and concerns with more nuance than many earlier Westerns. Despite its short run, Hawkeye garnered a cult following for its wilderness setting, action sequences, and the chemistry between Horsley and Grant. The series was filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
