Herb Lusk
Herb Lusk (1952-2022) was an American former professional football player and later a pastor and community activist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He played running back in the National Football League (NFL) for five seasons, from 1976 to 1980, primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Following his NFL career, Lusk became the pastor of Greater Exodus Baptist Church in Philadelphia, a role he held for several decades. He was known for his community outreach programs and advocacy work, particularly focused on addressing poverty, education, and violence in underserved neighborhoods. He founded and led several initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents in North Philadelphia.
Lusk was a vocal advocate for school choice and parental involvement in education. He also engaged in political activism, often speaking out on issues related to social justice and urban development.
