Masquerade (book)

Masquerade is a picture book, created by Kit Williams and published in 1979. It is a treasure hunt book, famously containing clues to the location of a golden hare pendant buried somewhere in the British countryside. The book is known for its intricate illustrations and cryptic riddles embedded within them. The story follows Jack Hare, tasked by the Moon to deliver a jeweled pendant of love to the Sun. During his journey, Jack Hare loses the pendant, and the reader is invited to decipher the clues in the illustrations and text to find where Jack Hare finally buried it. The book's success led to a year-long treasure hunt that captured the public's imagination. The hare was eventually found in 1982.
