XXX (2002 film)
XXX is a 2002 American action film directed by Rob Cohen, starring Vin Diesel as Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast, stuntman and rebellious thrill-seeker who is coerced by the National Security Agency (NSA) to become a secret agent. Samuel L. Jackson co-stars as Agent Augustus Gibbons, the NSA agent who recruits Cage.
The film centers on Cage's mission to infiltrate and dismantle a group of Eurasian terrorists known as "Anarchy 99" led by the ruthless Yorgi (Marton Csokas) operating in Prague. The plot involves high-stakes action sequences, international espionage, and the use of extreme sports skills in combat and infiltration tactics.
XXX was a commercial success, spawning a franchise with sequels and related media. While it was praised for its action sequences and Vin Diesel's performance, it also received mixed reviews from critics, who found the plot formulaic and the characters underdeveloped. The film's popularity led to the release of XXX: State of the Union in 2005, starring Ice Cube, and XXX: Return of Xander Cage in 2017, with Vin Diesel reprising his role.
