Syabry
Syabry (Belarusian: Сябры, Russian: Сябры) is a Belarusian musical group, primarily known for performing folk and pop music. The group was formed in 1974 in the city of Gomel, Belarus, then part of the Soviet Union. Their name translates to "Friends" in Belarusian.
Syabry achieved widespread popularity throughout the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 1980s. They are known for their melodic compositions, vocal harmonies, and use of Belarusian folk elements in their music. Their repertoire includes original songs as well as arrangements of traditional Belarusian folk songs. One of their most famous songs is "Алеся" (Alesia), which became a signature tune for the band and a beloved song in Belarus.
The group has undergone personnel changes throughout its history, but has remained active and continues to perform. They have released numerous albums and toured extensively, both within Belarus and internationally. Syabry is considered one of the most prominent and enduring musical groups from Belarus, contributing significantly to the popularization of Belarusian culture and music.
