Joe McGrath (Irish footballer)

Joe McGrath (born 28 September 1950) is an Irish former professional footballer who played as a defender.

McGrath began his career with Home Farm in Ireland before moving to England to join Birmingham City in 1971. He spent six years at Birmingham, making over 150 league appearances and playing in the 1976 FA Cup semi-final.

In 1977, McGrath transferred to Middlesbrough, where he played for three seasons. He then moved to Walsall in 1980, and later had spells with Newport County and Telford United before retiring from professional football.

McGrath also represented the Republic of Ireland at international level, earning three caps.
