Temple Israel (Dayton, Ohio)

Temple Israel is a Reform Jewish congregation located in Dayton, Ohio. It is one of the oldest Reform congregations in the United States, tracing its origins back to 1850 as the Bene Jeshurun Society. The congregation formally organized as a synagogue in 1854.

Over its history, Temple Israel has been served by a number of prominent Reform rabbis and has played a significant role in the Jewish community of Dayton and the broader Reform movement. The congregation has been actively involved in social justice initiatives, interfaith dialogue, and Jewish education.
