Kao, Indonesia

Kao is a subdistrict (kecamatan) located in the North Halmahera Regency of North Maluku province, Indonesia. It lies on the northern part of Halmahera Island.

Geography:

Kao occupies a significant portion of the northern peninsula of Halmahera. The landscape is characterized by a mix of coastal plains, hills, and mountainous terrain further inland. The climate is tropical, with high humidity and significant rainfall throughout the year.

Demographics:

The population of Kao subdistrict consists of a diverse mix of ethnic groups, including the Kao people, who are indigenous to the area. Other groups include migrants from other parts of Indonesia. The primary languages spoken are Kao and Indonesian.

Economy:
