McKee Run
McKee Run is a small stream located in southwestern Pennsylvania, United States. It is a tributary of the Youghiogheny River. The run flows primarily through Washington County.
The name "McKee Run" is derived from an early settler named McKee, who resided near the stream. The surrounding area was historically agricultural, and McKee Run served as a water source for farming operations.
Today, McKee Run is largely surrounded by residential and light industrial development. The stream is subject to the environmental regulations governing waterways in Pennsylvania, aimed at protecting water quality and aquatic habitats. Specific concerns related to McKee Run, as with many small streams in developed areas, include runoff from impervious surfaces, potential pollution from nearby land uses, and maintaining riparian buffers to protect the stream's ecosystem. Data on the stream's water quality, flow rate, and aquatic life can often be found through local watershed associations and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
