HMS Lightfoot (1915)

HMS Lightfoot was a Town-class light cruiser of the Royal Navy, built by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company and launched in 1915. She served throughout World War I, primarily with the Harwich Force.

Lightfoot was part of the 3rd Light Cruiser Squadron. She participated in the Battle of Jutland in May 1916, where she sustained significant damage. Despite the damage, Lightfoot remained afloat and was repaired.

Following World War I, Lightfoot was placed in reserve. She was eventually sold for scrap in 1935.

The Lightfoot was named after an older vessel of the same name, continuing a tradition within the Royal Navy. Her design incorporated several improvements over earlier Town-class cruisers, making her a relatively modern and capable warship for her time. She is remembered for her service during a crucial period in naval history and her resilience in the face of enemy fire at Jutland.
