Avial (band)

Avial is an Indian alternative rock band formed in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India in 2003. The band is known for its unique blend of Malayalam lyrics and alternative rock music, creating a style they term "Alternative Malayali Rock." Avial's name is derived from the South Indian dish of the same name, symbolizing a mixture of different ingredients coming together to form a unified whole, mirroring the band members' diverse musical backgrounds and influences.

The band's initial lineup included Anandraj Benjamin Paul, Tony John, Rex Vijayan, and Naresh Kamath. Later, Binny Isaac joined the band replacing Naresh Kamath on bass guitar. Their self-titled debut album, Avial, released in 2008, was a critical and commercial success, garnering widespread acclaim for its innovative sound and socially relevant lyrics. The album featured popular tracks such as "Nada Nada," "Karukara," and "Aadu Pambe."

Avial's music addresses various themes including social issues, environmental concerns, and personal experiences.
