Squidoo
Squidoo was a website that allowed users to create single-page websites called "lenses" on topics they were passionate about. These lenses could incorporate text, images, videos, links to other websites, and affiliate marketing modules. Squidoo users, known as "Squids," could earn royalties based on the traffic and sales generated by their lenses.
The platform focused on niche interests and provided a way for individuals to share their knowledge, curate resources, and potentially earn income. Squidoo differentiated itself from traditional blogging platforms by emphasizing the creation of focused, comprehensive resource pages on specific subjects.
Squidoo was founded in 2005 by Seth Godin and Cory Doctorow. In 2014, Squidoo was acquired by HubPages and subsequently shut down. Existing lenses were either migrated to HubPages or retired. The platform is no longer active.
