CoRoT-19b

CoRoT-19b is an extrasolar planet orbiting the star CoRoT-19, located in the constellation Monoceros. It was discovered in 2011 by the CoRoT space telescope using the transit method, where the planet's passage in front of its host star causes a slight dimming of the star's light.

CoRoT-19b is classified as a hot Jupiter, a type of gas giant exoplanet that is physically similar to Jupiter but has a very short orbital period, placing it much closer to its star than Jupiter is to the Sun. This proximity results in extremely high surface temperatures.

The planet has a mass of approximately 1.12 Jupiter masses and a radius of about 1.67 Jupiter radii, making it a bloated hot Jupiter. Its orbital period is roughly 3.9 days. The planet's inflated radius is a subject of study, with possible explanations including tidal heating or other mechanisms related to its proximity to its host star.

Further research and observation are ongoing to better understand the characteristics and formation of CoRoT-19b.
