Riot Zone
Riot Zone is a side-scrolling beat 'em up video game developed and published by Westone Bit Entertainment. It was released in Japan as Crest of Wolf (クレスト オブ ウルフ) in 1992. The game was later released internationally for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis.
Riot Zone features a post-apocalyptic setting where a criminal organization has taken control. The player controls one of two protagonists, Hawk and Tony (named Randy and Slam in the Japanese version, Crest of Wolf), who must fight through hordes of enemies to rescue a kidnapped woman, Mary.
The gameplay consists of moving from left to right, engaging in hand-to-hand combat with enemies using punches, kicks, and special attacks. Players can also pick up weapons scattered throughout the levels, such as pipes and knives. Each character has unique special moves, including screen-clearing attacks that consume health.
The game is known for its challenging difficulty and its cooperative multiplayer mode, allowing two players to play simultaneously. It received mixed reviews upon release, with some critics praising its graphics and gameplay, while others criticized its repetitive nature and difficulty.
