Betty Rea

Betty Rea (1904-1965) was a British sculptor known for her direct carving technique and modernist style. She was born in London and studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts. Rea's work often depicted human figures, particularly mothers and children, as well as animals. She was a member of the London Group and exhibited widely throughout her career, including at the Royal Academy and the Society of Women Artists. Her sculptures are held in various public collections, including the Tate and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Rea was committed to making art accessible and also taught sculpture.
