Ward Creek (Lake Tahoe)

Ward Creek is a stream located on the western side of Lake Tahoe, California. It originates in the mountains of the Tahoe National Forest and flows eastward into Lake Tahoe. The creek drains a watershed of approximately 8 square miles and is characterized by a mixed conifer forest ecosystem.

Ward Creek is an important tributary to Lake Tahoe, contributing fresh water and sediment. It is also a valuable habitat for a variety of wildlife, including native trout species. The Ward Creek watershed has experienced impacts from historical logging and more recently, residential development. Efforts are underway to restore and protect the water quality and ecological integrity of Ward Creek. The area around Ward Creek offers recreational opportunities such as hiking and fishing.
