Ahmose (princess)
Ahmose was an ancient Egyptian princess of the late 17th Dynasty or early 18th Dynasty. She was likely the daughter of Pharaoh Seqenenre Tao II and his sister-wife Ahhotep I. This places her in the period shortly before or at the very beginning of the New Kingdom.
Information about Ahmose is relatively scarce, primarily derived from her presence on the Deir el-Bahri cache found in 1881 (DB320). She is one of several royal women whose mummies were reburied there to protect them from tomb robbers.
Ahmose's title was "King's Daughter," confirming her royal lineage. The condition of her mummy and the specific details of her life remain largely unknown, but her inclusion within the Deir el-Bahri cache indicates her importance as a member of the royal family during a critical period in Egyptian history. She is one of several princesses named Ahmose during this era, making precise identification and differentiation occasionally challenging. The name Ahmose, meaning "The Moon is Born," was a popular name in the royal family, particularly during the transition from the Second Intermediate Period to the New Kingdom.
