PSLV-C55
PSLV-C55 was a dedicated commercial mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), launched on April 22, 2023, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, India. The mission utilized the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), in its DL configuration, to deploy two primary satellites into a low Earth orbit.
The primary payloads were the TeLEOS-2 satellite, a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite, and the Lumelite-4 satellite, an advanced technology demonstration microsatellite, both belonging to Singapore. The mission was undertaken by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), ISRO's commercial arm.
Beyond the primary payloads, the PSLV-C55 mission also carried several other secondary payloads, including experiments designed for in-orbit scientific research and technology demonstrations. These experiments covered areas such as utilizing a PSLV Orbital Experimental Module (POEM) to provide a stabilized platform in orbit for conducting scientific experiments, and testing new technologies for future space missions. POEM used the PSLV-C55's fourth stage after satellite separation as an orbital platform.
The PSLV-C55 mission marked another significant milestone in ISRO's commercial launch capabilities, further establishing India as a reliable and cost-effective provider of space launch services.
