Mo Thugs
Mo Thugs is a hip hop collective founded by Layzie Bone (also known as L.B.) of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony in the mid-1990s. It served as a platform to showcase the talents of various artists affiliated with and discovered by Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, particularly those from their native Cleveland, Ohio.
The name "Mo Thugs" is a shortened version of "Money Thugs," reflecting the lyrical themes often explored by the artists within the collective, which frequently revolved around street life, financial struggles, and the pursuit of wealth.
The collective released several albums under the title "Mo Thugs Family Scriptures," which featured a rotating roster of artists including (but not limited to): Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, Wish Bone, Bizzy Bone (all from Bone Thugs-n-Harmony), as well as independent artists such as Big Caz, Felecia, Debra Hurd, Skant Rose, POW POW, and others. These albums were generally released on Mo Thugs Records, a label founded by Layzie Bone.
While Mo Thugs provided a significant platform for many emerging artists and contributed to the expansion of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's influence, it also experienced internal conflicts and fluctuating membership over the years. The collective's activity has varied, with individual members pursuing solo careers and independent projects in addition to participating in Mo Thugs releases.
