CIV (band)

CIV was an American punk rock band from New York City, active from 1994 to 2000. The band's name, CIV, is derived from the first initial of each member's first name: Civarelli, Iglewski, Voskamp.

The group consisted of Anthony Civarelli (vocals), Arthur Smilios (bass), Sammy Siegler (drums), and Charlie Garriga (guitar). Before forming CIV, Civarelli, Smilios, and Siegler were all members of the influential hardcore punk band Gorilla Biscuits. Garriga was previously a member of Side By Side and Youth of Today.

CIV released their debut album, Set Your Goals, in 1995 on Revelation Records. The album spawned the hit single "Can't Wait One Minute More," which achieved significant airplay on mainstream radio and MTV. Their second album, Thirteen Day Getaway, was released in 1998, also on Revelation Records.

While CIV achieved some mainstream success, they remained connected to their hardcore punk roots. The band toured extensively and maintained a strong following within the hardcore scene. CIV disbanded in 2000 but reunited for occasional performances in later years.
