Oiva Sala

Oiva Sala (born December 9, 1941, in Helsinki, Finland, died May 31, 2015, in Helsinki, Finland) was a Finnish entrepreneur and business executive, best known as the founder of Amer Group's sports division. He held a significant role in developing and expanding Amer's business interests, particularly in the sporting goods industry, transforming the company into a major international player.

Sala graduated with a Master of Science degree in economics. He joined Amer in 1974, initially focusing on tobacco and paper operations. His vision and leadership led to the acquisition of MacGregor Golf in 1986, marking Amer's entry into the sports business. Subsequently, Amer acquired Wilson Sporting Goods in 1989, further solidifying its position. Under Sala's direction, the sports division grew exponentially, becoming a substantial part of Amer's overall business portfolio.

He served in various executive positions within Amer Group, including as the Executive Vice President of the sports division, before retiring in the late 1990s. His contribution was pivotal in shaping Amer's strategic direction and global reach in the sports equipment market. Following his retirement, he remained an influential figure in Finnish business circles.
