Sveinsdóttir (crater)

Sveinsdóttir is a small lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located within the Mare Ingenii, a lunar mare situated in the South Pole-Aitken basin. The crater is simple, bowl-shaped, and relatively young, with a well-defined rim and a small interior. It is named after Icelandic geologist Sigurður Sveinsson’s daughter, Sveinsdóttir. The name was approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) in 2018.
