HMS Diana (1775)
HMS Diana was a 32-gun fifth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1775. She was designed by Sir John Williams and built at Pembroke Dockyard.
Diana saw extensive service during the American Revolutionary War. She participated in numerous engagements, including the Battle of Cape Henry in 1781 and the Battle of the Saintes in 1782. She captured several enemy vessels during the war.
Following the American Revolutionary War, Diana continued to serve in the Royal Navy, primarily in peacetime roles. She was later converted to a storeship and renamed Dromedary in 1794. As Dromedary, she served as a depot ship and transport vessel. She was eventually broken up in 1817.
Her notable commanders included Captain Thomas Cotes, who commanded her during much of the American Revolutionary War, and later Captain Charles Thompson.
