Kymi Ring

The Kymi Ring is a motorsport circuit located in Kausala, Iitti, Finland, approximately 110 kilometers northeast of Helsinki. It is the first Finnish circuit to hold an FIA Grade 1 license. The track was designed by Alex Wurz and began construction in 2016, with the official opening taking place in August 2019.

The circuit features a 4.573-kilometer (2.842 mi) track layout designed to accommodate a variety of motorsport events, including MotoGP, Formula cars, and GT racing. It includes a variety of challenging corners and elevation changes. Alongside the main track, the Kymi Ring includes karting and rallycross tracks.

While initially slated to host the Finnish MotoGP Grand Prix, financial difficulties and contractual issues led to the cancellation of the event multiple times. Ultimately, the Kymi Ring Oy, the company operating the circuit, filed for bankruptcy in 2022, leading to uncertainty regarding the future of the facility.

The circuit's location and design aimed to attract international motorsport events and provide a modern facility for Finnish motorsport enthusiasts. Despite the initial optimism and investment, the bankruptcy of the operating company casts a shadow over its long-term viability.
