Takuya Satō (director)

Takuya Satō (佐藤 卓哉, Satō Takuya, born May 25, 1967) is a Japanese anime director, storyboard artist, and animation director. He is known for his unique visual style and handling of complex themes, often exploring psychological and philosophical concepts within his works.

Satō began his career as an animator and storyboard artist, contributing to various well-known series. He transitioned into directing with NieA_7 in 2000, which showcased his distinctive direction and earned him recognition. Other notable works include Strawberry Eggs (2001), Kino's Journey (2003, first series), Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei (2007-2008, first two seasons), Kaiba (2008), and Steins;Gate (as chief director, 2011).
