Rich Johnson (basketball)

Rich Johnson (born August 24, 1946) is an American former professional basketball player.

A 6'7" forward/center, Johnson played college basketball at Grambling State University, where he was a teammate of Willis Reed.

Johnson was drafted by the Boston Celtics in the 5th round (67th overall) of the 1968 NBA draft and by the Oakland Oaks in the 1968 ABA Draft. He chose to play in the American Basketball Association (ABA), spending the 1968-69 season with the New Orleans Buccaneers. He averaged 8.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He subsequently played for the Pittsburgh Pipers/Condors for two seasons (1969-1971). He finished his professional career with The Floridians in the 1971-72 season.

His career ABA statistics include 1,544 points and 1,276 rebounds in 212 games.
