Severn River (Queensland)

The Severn River is a minor river located in the Granite Belt region of Queensland, Australia. It rises on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range and flows generally west-southwest. The river is primarily ephemeral, with flow heavily dependent on rainfall. Its catchment area is relatively small.

The Severn River eventually joins the Dumaresq River, which forms part of the border between Queensland and New South Wales. The Dumaresq then flows into the Macintyre River, a major tributary of the Darling River.

Land use in the Severn River catchment area is dominated by agriculture, including grazing and cropping. The river plays a role in providing water for these activities, although its reliability can be a limiting factor due to its intermittent flow. The river's ecological health is influenced by agricultural practices within the catchment.
