Lin Yi-han
Lin Yi-han (Chinese: 林奕含; April 10, 1991 – April 27, 2017) was a Taiwanese writer. She is best known for her debut novel, Fang Si-chi's First Love Paradise (房思琪的初戀樂園), published in February 2017, which explores themes of sexual abuse and trauma. The novel gained significant attention in Taiwan for its portrayal of a young girl's experience with grooming and abuse by her teacher.
Following the book's release, Lin Yi-han publicly disclosed that the novel was partially based on her own experiences with sexual abuse during her teenage years. This revelation sparked widespread discussion in Taiwan about the prevalence of sexual abuse and the challenges faced by survivors.
Lin Yi-han tragically died by suicide in April 2017, shortly after the controversy surrounding her novel and her personal disclosures. Her death further amplified the public discourse on sexual abuse and its impact on victims, leading to increased awareness and calls for systemic change in addressing the issue.
