Wu Qidi

Wu Qidi (吴启迪, born August 1947) is a Chinese engineer, educator, and politician. She is best known for her contributions to the field of electrical engineering and her prominent roles in Chinese education and government.

Wu Qidi received her degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University in 1970. She later earned a doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) in 1981.

Following her return to China, Wu Qidi became a professor at Tsinghua University, specializing in electrical engineering and automation. She served as Vice President of Tsinghua University from 1995 to 1999.

From 1999 to 2008, Wu Qidi served as the Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China. In this capacity, she played a significant role in shaping China's education policies and promoting educational reforms. Her responsibilities included international cooperation in education and vocational training.

Wu Qidi has also been involved in various academic and professional organizations. She is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
