Kliima
Kliima (Finnish for "Climate")
Kliima, in Finnish, refers to the long-term average weather conditions in a particular region or on a global scale. It encompasses patterns of temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind, precipitation, and other meteorological elements over a significant period, typically 30 years or more. Climate is distinct from weather, which describes the short-term atmospheric conditions.
The study of climate, or climatology, examines the factors that influence climate, such as latitude, altitude, proximity to oceans and mountains, and human activities. Climate change, referring to long-term shifts in temperature and weather patterns, is a significant area of scientific concern, particularly the current trend of global warming driven by increased greenhouse gas emissions.
Understanding kliima and its variability is crucial for various sectors, including agriculture, water resource management, infrastructure planning, and public health. Information about climate is used to predict future weather patterns, assess the risks associated with extreme weather events, and develop strategies for mitigating the impacts of climate change.
