Jerry Reynolds (basketball, born 1944)

Jerry Reynolds (born December 23, 1944) is an American former basketball coach, scout, and executive. He is best known for his long association with the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Reynolds' basketball career began as a player at Oklahoma City University. Following his playing career, he moved into coaching, starting at the high school level. He then transitioned to the college ranks, eventually becoming an assistant coach at Kansas State University.

Reynolds joined the Sacramento Kings organization in the mid-1980s, initially as a scout. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming an assistant coach and then, in 1987, the team's head coach. He served as head coach for parts of four seasons, from 1987 to 1989 and again briefly in 1991. While his coaching record was not exceptional, he was well-regarded for his player development skills and his genuine passion for the game.

After his coaching stints, Reynolds remained with the Kings in various executive roles, including as a general manager and as a color commentator for the team's television broadcasts. His insightful commentary and colorful personality made him a popular figure among Kings fans.

Throughout his career, Reynolds was known for his strong relationships with players and his deep understanding of the game of basketball. He has been a consistent presence in the Sacramento basketball community for decades.
