Tsander (crater)

Tsander is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon, just beyond the eastern limb. Due to its location, it is only sometimes visible from the Earth under favorable libration and lighting conditions. It is situated to the northeast of the crater Fryxell and west-northwest of Papaleksi.

This crater is heavily eroded and damaged, with a worn, rounded rim that is overlain by several smaller craters. The most notable of these is a small crater across the southwest rim, and another along the northern edge. The inner walls are irregular and show signs of slumping. The interior floor is relatively level and featureless, with only a few tiny craterlets marking the surface.

Tsander is named after Fridrikh Arturovich Tsander, a Latvian-Soviet rocket scientist and pioneer of astronautics.
