U Škripcu

U Škripcu was a prominent Yugoslav and Croatian new wave/punk rock band formed in Zagreb in 1979. The name translates to "In a Pinch" or "In a Bind."

The band was notable for its sophisticated musical arrangements, clever and often satirical lyrics, and vocalist Zoran Predin's distinctive baritone voice and stage presence. Their sound blended elements of punk rock energy with art rock sensibilities, incorporating saxophone and other less conventional rock instrumentation.

U Škripcu released several critically acclaimed albums throughout the 1980s, including "Nove godine!" (New Years!), "Ako nemam 60" (If I Don't Have 60), and "Izgleda glupo" (Looks Stupid). They achieved significant popularity in Yugoslavia and are considered one of the most important bands of the Yugoslav new wave era.

The band went through several lineup changes throughout its existence. After the breakup of Yugoslavia, Zoran Predin continued his solo career, often performing U Škripcu songs. The band officially disbanded in the late 1990s.

U Škripcu's music continues to be appreciated for its originality, intelligence, and enduring relevance within the Croatian and ex-Yugoslavian music scene.
