Don Turnbull (game designer)
Don Turnbull was a British game designer, editor, and reviewer best known for his contributions to wargaming and role-playing games. He was a prominent figure in the early UK tabletop gaming scene.
Turnbull founded and edited the magazine Albion, which was a key publication for the UK wargaming community in the 1970s. Albion covered a variety of wargames, providing reviews, scenarios, and articles on game tactics and design.
Later, Turnbull became involved in the burgeoning role-playing game industry. He worked with Games Workshop, contributing to the development and promotion of Dungeons & Dragons in the UK. He also wrote and edited material for Games Workshop's in-house magazine, White Dwarf, including reviews and articles on RPGs.
Turnbull is credited with playing a significant role in popularizing both wargaming and role-playing games in the United Kingdom, helping to foster a vibrant gaming culture. His work as an editor and reviewer helped shape the tastes of British gamers and contributed to the growth of the industry. His specific contributions as a game designer, separate from his editorial work, are less widely documented, but his overall influence on the hobby is undeniable.
