BMW X1 (F48)
The BMW X1 (F48) is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW since 2015. It is the second generation of the BMW X1, succeeding the E84 model. The F48 X1 is based on BMW's front-wheel-drive UKL platform, which it shares with models such as the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the MINI Countryman.
Compared to its predecessor, the F48 X1 is shorter in overall length but taller and wider, offering improved interior space and practicality. It is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, typically four-cylinder units, and with either front-wheel drive (sDrive) or all-wheel drive (xDrive). Transmissions include six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, and eight-speed automatic options, depending on the engine and market.
Styling features of the F48 X1 include BMW's signature kidney grille, distinctive headlights, and a more rugged overall appearance than its predecessor. The interior incorporates BMW's iDrive infotainment system, available with various screen sizes and features. Trim levels and optional equipment vary by market, but typically include features such as leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, navigation system, and driver assistance technologies.
The F48 X1 received a facelift in 2019, featuring revised exterior styling, including updated front and rear bumpers, headlights, and taillights. Interior updates included a redesigned center console and the latest version of the iDrive system.
Production of the F48 X1 has taken place in various locations, including Germany and China. It has been a popular model for BMW, contributing significantly to the brand's sales in the subcompact luxury SUV segment.
