Les Gara

Les Gara is an American politician and attorney serving as a Democratic member of the Alaska House of Representatives, representing District 23 (Anchorage) since 2013.

Gara was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and a Juris Doctor degree from Stanford Law School. Prior to his political career, he worked as a trial attorney.

During his time in the Alaska House, Gara has focused on issues such as education funding, healthcare access, and oil and gas taxes. He has served on numerous committees, including the House Finance Committee and the House Judiciary Committee. He has also been a vocal advocate for campaign finance reform and government transparency. Gara has often been involved in debates surrounding Alaska's budget and Permanent Fund.
