Geography

Champoz is situated in the valley of the Birs River, at the foot of the Jura Mountains. The municipality covers an area of approximately 7.1 square kilometers (2.7 square miles).

History

The village was first mentioned in 1179 as Campels. Historically, Champoz was part of the Seigniory of Erguel. In 1815, it became part of the canton of Bern after the Congress of Vienna.
