Whitechapel (band)
Whitechapel is an American deathcore band from Knoxville, Tennessee. Formed in 2006, the band is named after the Whitechapel district of London, England, where Jack the Ripper committed his murders.
Whitechapel's lineup consists of vocalist Phil Bozeman, guitarists Ben Savage, Alex Wade, and Zach Householder, and bassist Gabe Crisp. Drummer Alex Rüdinger joined the band in 2020. Prior drummers include Kevin Lane and Ben Harclerode.
The band has released eight studio albums: The Somatic Defilement (2007), This Is Exile (2008), A New Era of Corruption (2010), Whitechapel (2012), Our Endless War (2014), Mark of the Blade (2016), The Valley (2019), and Kin (2021). Their sound is characterized by heavy breakdowns, blast beats, guttural vocals, and lyrical themes often dealing with violence, misanthropy, and personal struggles.
Whitechapel has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, playing alongside bands such as Carnifex, Despised Icon, Suicide Silence, and The Black Dahlia Murder. They are considered a significant act in the deathcore genre and have garnered a dedicated fanbase.
