Richard Leigh (songwriter)

Richard Leigh (born March 29, 1951) is an American country music songwriter. He is best known for co-writing the song "Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue," which was a major hit for Crystal Gayle in 1977. Leigh collaborated with Kerry Chater on several successful songs, including "I've Been a Long Time Loving You" also recorded by Crystal Gayle, "The Hunger" recorded by Crystal Gayle and "Thank God for the Radio" recorded by The Kendalls.

His work has been recorded by numerous artists, including Mickey Gilley, Barbara Mandrell, and Tammy Wynette. Leigh was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1994. In addition to his songwriting, Leigh has also been involved in music publishing.
