River Pool (London)

The River Pool, also known as the Pool River, is a tributary of the River Ravensbourne in southeast London, England. Rising in the London Borough of Bromley, it flows generally northwards through the boroughs of Lewisham and Southwark, eventually joining the Ravensbourne in Catford.

The river's course has been significantly altered over time, with sections culverted and straightened, particularly in more urbanized areas. Despite these modifications, the River Pool remains an important feature of the local environment.

Historically, the River Pool powered mills and provided water for agricultural and industrial uses. The name "Pool" is believed to derive from a "pool" of water that was historically present near its source.

Efforts are ongoing to improve the water quality and ecological value of the River Pool.
