John Archer (actor)

John Archer (May 8, 1915 – December 3, 1999) was an American actor, whose real name was Ralph Bowman. He appeared in over 100 films and television programs during his career, which spanned from the late 1930s to the early 1980s.

Archer was born in Osceola, Nebraska. He began his acting career in radio before transitioning to film. He was often cast in supporting roles, playing characters such as detectives, lawyers, and military officers. Some of his notable film appearances include Destination Moon (1950), Blue Hawaii (1961), and Psycho (1960), where he played Miriam's boyfriend.

In addition to his film work, Archer also appeared in numerous television shows, including Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and Perry Mason. He was a familiar face on television screens throughout the 1950s, 60s, and 70s.

Archer was married to actress Marjorie Lord from 1941 until her death in 2015. They had two children. John Archer died in 1999 in Redmond, Washington, at the age of 84.
