Tim Crews
Timothy Louis Crews (April 3, 1961 – March 21, 1993) was an American professional baseball player. He was a right-handed relief pitcher in Major League Baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1987-1991) and the Cleveland Indians (1992-1993).
Crews was known for his sinkerball and his outspoken Christian faith. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 6th round of the 1979 Major League Baseball draft. He spent several years in the minor leagues before making his major league debut in 1987. He was a member of the 1988 World Series champion Dodgers team.
Tragically, Crews, along with fellow Dodgers pitcher Steve Olin, was killed in a boating accident on Little Lake Nellie in Clermont, Florida, during spring training in 1993. The accident also severely injured pitcher Bob Ojeda. The players were fishing when their bass boat struck a dock.
