Thomas McMillan (British politician)

Thomas McMillan (born 19 January 1919, died 29 May 1980) was a British Labour Party politician.

McMillan served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow Central from 1959 until his death in 1980. He entered Parliament after winning a by-election following the death of James McInnes.

During his time in Parliament, McMillan served as a Lord Commissioner of the Treasury (a government whip) from 1964 to 1966 under Harold Wilson's first government. He also served on various parliamentary committees.

McMillan was known as a dedicated constituency MP and a staunch advocate for his constituents in Glasgow Central. He was a committed socialist and a supporter of the Labour Party's traditional values.

His death in 1980 triggered a by-election in Glasgow Central, which was won by Bob McTaggart for the Labour Party.
