Finnøy
Finnøy was a municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It existed from 1838 until its dissolution and merger on January 1, 2020. The administrative centre of Finnøy was the village of Judaberg.
Finnøy municipality encompassed a group of islands located north of Stavanger in the traditional district of Ryfylke. These islands included Finnøya (the namesake of the municipality), Ombo (partially), Fogn, and several smaller islands.
Historically, the main industries in Finnøy were agriculture, fishing, and aquaculture. In later years, tourism also became a significant contributor to the local economy.
The municipality was known for its scenic landscapes, including fertile agricultural areas and rugged coastlines. Several historical sites and cultural attractions were located within Finnøy.
In 2020, Finnøy municipality was merged with the municipalities of Rennesøy and Stavanger to form the new, larger Stavanger municipality. Therefore, "Finnøy" now primarily refers to a geographical area within the larger Stavanger administrative unit, retaining its identity through local place names and cultural associations. The postal code for the area is 4160.
