House-Museum of Bulbul (Shusha)
The House-Museum of Bulbul in Shusha was a museum dedicated to the life and work of Murtuza Rza oglu Mammadov, better known as Bulbul, a prominent Azerbaijani opera singer, folk music performer, and musicologist. It was located in the city of Shusha, a historically significant cultural center of Azerbaijan.
The museum aimed to preserve and showcase Bulbul's personal belongings, documents, photographs, and other artifacts related to his life and career. Its exhibits highlighted his contributions to Azerbaijani music, opera, and folklore. The museum also served as a research center for scholars and students interested in Bulbul's legacy and Azerbaijani musical heritage.
Founded in 1982, the museum ceased operation following the occupation of Shusha by Armenian forces in 1992 during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. During the occupation, the museum suffered significant damage and many of its exhibits were looted or destroyed.
Following the recapture of Shusha by Azerbaijani forces in November 2020 during the Second Nagorno-Karabakh War, plans were announced for the restoration and reopening of the House-Museum of Bulbul.
