Bruce Ford (tenor)

Bruce Ford (born 1956) is an American operatic tenor, particularly known for his interpretations of bel canto roles.

Ford studied at the Indiana University School of Music and began his career singing supporting roles. He gained international recognition in the 1980s for his agility, vocal clarity, and command of ornamentation in operas by Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti. He became a leading exponent of roles such as Arnold Melcthal in Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Arturo in Bellini's I puritani, and Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale.

Ford's repertoire extends beyond bel canto, encompassing roles in French opera, such as Nadir in Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles and Roméo in Gounod's Roméo et Juliette. He has performed with leading opera companies and orchestras worldwide, including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, and the Vienna State Opera.

His extensive discography includes numerous complete opera recordings and recital albums, many of which have received critical acclaim. He has also been involved in the revival and performance of lesser-known bel canto operas. He continues to perform and teach masterclasses.
