The Teammates (statue)

The Teammates is a bronze statue located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, commemorating the friendship of four former Boston Red Sox players: Bobby Doerr, Dom DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, and Ted Williams.

The statue, sculpted by Armand LaMontagne, depicts the four men as they appeared in their prime, standing together and looking out at the field. It was commissioned to honor their long-lasting bond, which extended far beyond their baseball careers. The statue symbolizes the ideals of teamwork, friendship, and loyalty.

The statue was unveiled on September 26, 2010, at McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. It quickly became a popular landmark and a site of pilgrimage for Red Sox fans. Each of the four men was present at the unveiling ceremony.

The inscription at the base of the statue reads: "The Teammates. Bobby Doerr, Dom DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, Ted Williams. Their bond transcended baseball."

Following the deaths of each of the players, fans and the Red Sox organization have often used the statue as a place of remembrance and tribute. It serves as a lasting memorial to their contributions to the sport and to the enduring power of friendship.
